After residing in Connecticut for 35 years, our parents/in-laws made a bold decision: to bid farewell to their home and embrace a new chapter in Delaware. The beach, a fresh community, forging new friendships, and zero property taxes last year were just too compelling to resist.

What’s been great about this new journey is that it’s allowed us to take many new adventures together as a family and get excited for many more ahead. Brand new state, area and location, what’s better than that?

While this blog post isn’t filled with a huge trip or big overhaul for us to travel with the kids, we feel it’s important to share the hacks that we’ve found along the way as well.

As parents, we understand the value of celebrating the little victories that brighten our days. For us, one such “win” came from discovering the perfect beach wagon with durable rubber wheels - a rare gem that has revolutionized our beach outings with the kids.

Picture this scenario: two young children, both unable to traverse long distances (or not yet walking), a plethora of beach essentials including chairs, umbrellas, tents, toys, coolers, bags, and only four arms to carry it all. Tip #1: Refuse to settle for inferior products, particularly if they fail to alleviate stress or fulfill the very purpose for which you sought them.

Lewes is a great area of DE and our family home is ~25 minutes to the beach. Amazing beaches and a lot to do in the area! It’s a great long weekend location (or longer) and here are a few local places we recommend:
